Winter Camp Info 2

Posted by Jerlie Jensen on Dec 26 2023 at 01:19PM PST

UPDATE 12/30 ******
We have decided to head home earlier than planned due to some potentially icy road conditions. Our current ETA is 3:40. Please be at the school by that time so no one is waiting for rides when we arrive.

UPDATE 12/27******
The ski trails will definitely not be open the first day of winter camp and likely won’t be open during our entire camp. This means we will be planning on a lot of dryland – here are some new additions to your packing list: rollerskis, helmets, rollerski poles.

The school is open until 3PM today if you want to grab this additional equipment from your locker. Otherwise, we should be able to grab them before we leave on Thursday.

Here is our itinerary –

Be at school at 6:30am for the bus to leave at 7:00am on DEC 28

As of right now, we are still planning on having winter camp, but snow conditions are looking very rough right now. The trails have been closed for the past few days to preserve them as much as possible, and Coach Abby is going to check out the trails today to get a firsthand look. They will likely be open during our winter camp time, but we are going to plan for the worst, which might mean some dryland time.

Packing instructions:
Wear on bus: We will not get to the hotel until the night of the 28th (our first day). That means you need to be on the bus ready to ski. That should include the following and anything else that might mean “ready to ski”
- Winter boots/non-ski shoes
- Winter coat
- Ski jacket
- Thermals
- Ski pants
- Running shoes

Bus bag(s): We will not get to the hotel until the night of the 28th (our first day). That means you need to be on the bus ready to ski. Here is what you need on the bus to be ready to ski the whole day.
- Ski Boots
- Extra Hats, mittens, buffs other ski garments.
- Breakfast
- Lunch
- Water bottle
- Drawstring/ski bag to hold water and snacks on trail
- Snacks (optional)
- Bus entertainment (optional)

Trailer bag(s): This will be everything else you need for the trip! The bus will have a trailer to put skis and things that don’t need to be immediately accessible.
- Ski clothes for the other ski days
- Pajamas
- Phone/ other charging cables and blocks
- Shower/ toiletry things
- Swimsuit and pool sandals
- Entertainment – cards, books, etc.
- Lounge clothes
- Snacks

Please consider what will be accessible to you on the bus and not accessible to you on the trailer. We will be skiing immediately upon arrival and will not be checking into the hotel until dinner time. Additionally, while the weather looks “warm,” winter coats and other “emergency” clothing should be easily available on the bus in case we run into any trouble on the way to Hayward. Otherwise, everything else will be on the trailer, buried under our skis.

Food Notes: There will be continental breakfast available for the 29th and 30th. And the Boosters are providing dinner for the 28th and 29th. So the only additional food you need to pack is your lunch for the 28th and snacks/dinner for the way back home on the 30th. Please avoid bringing any nuts/peanut butter.

We will be staying at the Holiday Inn Express & Suites in Hayward, WI. Parents, a reminder that if you would like to send any items to camp, there are still a couple items we are requesting listed on sign up genius.

We plan to return 12/30 by 6:00pm
Us coaches are looking forward to getting in some great skiing and team bonding! We can’t wait to see you all bright and early!

Additionally, please remember to turn in your Winter camp payments!
